Welcome to our new families, and welcome back to our returning students.  I have lots of details to share with you about upcoming dates for the school year.

REGISTER FOR SCHOOL: Thursday August 25th is our in-person registration at the school.  If you know of anyone new to the neighborhood with a child turning 4 by December 31st, send them to the school between 9-3 pm.

PRE-PRIMARY & PRIMARY: Staff return to school on September 1st.  Students start school on September 7th.  They may arrive starting at 8:15 am, and school starts at 8:35 am.  Students in Pre-primary will be contacted on/after September 1st  by the Pre-primary staff. Information for Primary students will be coming after September 1st.

STAFFING NEWS:  We are welcoming a new Vice-Principal to JGES.  Venessa Ewing is joining us as our new Vice Principal.  Mrs. Ewing is joining us from Colonel John Stewart Elementary.  We wish Ms. McLeod all the best in her new position.  Her kindness and hard work for our students will be missed.

JOBS: There are job openings for a group leader at EXCEL in our school.  If you know of anyone who might be interested, please pass along the info.  This Summer, there was an over 7 percent raise for staff bringing our Group Leader wage to $18.28/hour. The hours at Joseph Giles are 1:55-6 pm daily. Attached is a copy of our Group Leader job description. Candidates are welcome to email  EXCEL directly to apply ( email Kate MacDonald macdonald.kate@hrce.ca please include the school name, a resume, and a cover letter) or they can check out our job postings on https://www.hrce.ca/employment/job-postings.

If you need your log-in information, you can email jges@hrce.ca  We will email it out.  Please be patient- we aren’t fully staffed until September 1st.  We will also be available on the first day of school with classlists to direct students to their teacher
