Family Forecast March24-28

Dear Families,

We’ve reached the end of Term 2, and that means report cards will be sent home on Monday, April 1stProgress Conferences to discuss progress will take place the evening of Tuesday, April 2 and the afternoon of Wednesday, April 3. All conferences will be in person. Families will be able to book appointments starting Monday, March 24. You can book appointments at https://parentinterviews.com/josephgiles/

Over the past month, we’ve had two unexpected events: a fire alarm just before March Break and a power outage last week. We’re so proud of how our students handled both situations:they stayed calm, listened to staff, and followed directions very well.

Following any such event, we always take time to review and improve our procedures. We are currently updating our emergency plans to:

  • Have all classes gather in a single, designated student meeting area

  • Add a  Parent Emergency Meeting Spot

These updates will help ensure better communication and reduce unnecessary movement during an emergency. As always, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

Now that spring has officially arrived, we're seeing everything from chilly mornings to muddy afternoons. Please make sure your child has a change of clothes and layers (jackets, hats, sweaters). We encourage students to make choices about what to wear based on the weather, though we will step in if it’s clearly too cold for lighter clothing.

This month, we are continuing our school-wide learning on the Seven Sacred Teachings of the Mi’kmaq. March’s focus is on Bravery. Students have been:

  • Hearing daily announcements on the theme

  • Contributing ideas to a central bulletin board

  • Preparing for our school-wide assembly this Thursday

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
