What is Santa Shop?
Good question! It’s an opportunity for Joseph Giles students to have fun shopping for their loved ones while raising funds for school events.
How does it work?
Easy! We ask parents to donate new or gently used/clean items to fill the PTO Santa Shop. The more we have the more items to choose from! Kids come in, class by class and can buy anything they want for their family members for $1 per item! Items are wrapped on site by volunteer elves. The kids have so much fun picking out surprise gifts!
How many items can my child buy?
Depending on the number of donated items received we aim for each child being able to purchase up to 5 items. Once all classes are done, kids can come back through again if they have money to spend!
Amazing! How can I help?
First, we need items for kids to shop for…. LOTS of items! It’s a great time to go through those cupboards and bookshelves, closets or those bins you say you’ll get to some day. We can always use jewelry, drinkware, neckties, books, toys (no stuffed animals please), kitchenware, games, candles, photo frames, decorative items. Kids are generally shopping for their parents, grandparents and siblings so the more variety the better.
Second, we need wrapping paper and LOTS of gift bags!!
When I can drop of donations?
Donations can be dropped off or sent in with your kids starting December 2nd and we ask that all donations be in no later than December 13th. This gives the PTO elves time to sort through everything and make sure we have enough items for a successful fun event for the kids.
What should my child bring to school the day of Santa Shop?
Kids should come in that day with gift tags and a list of names they will be shopping for. This helps the elves make sure kids leave with items for the right people. Please also send in a reusable shopping bag for the kids to carry gifts home.
Volunteers needed!
This event can’t be successful without a lot of volunteers! We need help setting up the afternoon/evening before, elves to help kids shop and wrap all the treasures they find as well as help with cleanup when the event ends. It is one of our most fun events of the year and the more the merrier! Criminal record checks are not needed to volunteer.
