Traffic Update

Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to update you about new construction work that will impact our school community over the rest of the school year.

Construction has commenced on Gregory Drive as part of a HRM Street Recapitalization and New Sidewalk project. Our understanding is that the work will focus on the street before our school and will continue up the street after school finishes in June. While these improvements are undoubtedly beneficial in the long term, they will cause some unavoidable disruptions during the next five weeks of school.

As a result of the construction, there may be delays with bussing and pick-up/drop-off procedures. To help mitigate these challenges, I would like to suggest a few alternatives:
1. Staggered Drop-Offs: Given that students in Primary-Six  can arrive starting at 8:05, consider staggering drop-off times to alleviate congestion.
2. Utilize Flying Cloud: Dropping off students on Flying Cloud Drive and having them use pathways or sidewalks to reach the school can streamline traffic flow.
3. Avoid School Driveway: Please refrain from entering the school driveway and parking lot for drop-offs. With over 250 students arriving and departing daily, prioritizing their safety is paramount.
4. Consider Parking on Flying Cloud: For younger students, especially those in Pre-Primary, who require assistance to the door, parking on Flying Cloud Drive and making the short walk can save time and reduce traffic congestion.

As always, your cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated as we navigate through this period of construction together. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and let's work together to make this transition as smooth as possible.

Take Care,

John Fry
