Joseph Giles Elementary welcomes volunteers in the school in a variety of areas (ie., the library, classroom helpers, Parent Teacher Organization, School Advisory Council, chaperones on school trips, and various school activities). The Halifax Regional School Board requires that all volunteers must have completed a Criminal Records Check and a Child Abuse Registry Search and have these on file in the school office. These forms are valid for 3 years and it is the responsibility of the volunteer to be aware of the time frame and expiry dates of the checks.
The Criminal Records check form is accompanied by a school letter. (Both can be obtained from the school office.) Please check the RCMP website at http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cr-cj/fing-empr2-eng.htm as the requirements may change over time. The cost for this is the responsibility of the volunteer.
