Hello Families,

First, there is NO SCHOOL on Friday November 22 for Assessment day.  Friday is the end of term1.  Teachers are writing report cards.

Parent-Teacher Meetings  are for Grade primary-six and all in person this year.  You can book your parent teacher appointment at https://parentinterviews.com/josephgiles/ You can find help at https://help.parentinterviews.com/docs/parents/   If you aren’t able to come  in person, you can contact the teacher to get a meeting by phone.  You can  call the main office at 902-464-5192 if you need support to book an appointment.

The hot lunch program is hitting a groove in school with a consistent delivery time to the school, and our processes to get them to the students.  Some students are loving the meals while others are not.  Please check in with your child if they are getting the meals to help plan which ones work for them.   Deadline for the next order block is this Wednesday at noon.

Monthly Focus: this year, we’re excited to share  that we are doing a monthly focus for our  school (assemblies, announcements, posters, and in class lessons): the 7 Sacred Teachings from the Mi'kmaq culture—Love, Respect, Bravery, Honesty, Wisdom, Humility, and Truth. These teachings  embody universal values that transcend cultural and community boundaries. Each month, we will highlight one of these teachings, helping our students connect with values that promote understanding, compassion, and a sense of belonging.   To deepen this journey, we are collaborating with the Halifax Regional Centre for Education’s (HRCE) Mi'kmaq Education Services- Arlea Walsh, who will provide professional development for our staff and students. This partnership will help us honor these teachings in a way that is culturally respectful and enriching for everyone. We launched this initiative at an assembly lastThursday, and we look forward to sharing this journey of growth and learning with our school community. Thank you for your support as we work together to nurture these values in our students.

Have a great week,  Mr Fry and Mrs Ewing
